Where's The Beef Racing Team Waterford Hills

By carmerjr - Posted on 14 September 2007

The BEEF is back. Since the completion of our Grassroots autocrosser and track car, WTBRT #112, Scott Trunkhill and I had completed over 332 runs since August of 2003. We define 'runs' as completions of a designed course and we do not separate practice runs or competitive runs. Runs are therefore very different in length and time and may take place on a road course, autocross course, an oval or circular race course or on a dragstrip. Our original Monza bodied Corvair with a used 95,000 mile stock 140hp engine was the 332 run racer that had competed in NECC events at Clay City dragstrip in Kentucky and Beaverun road course in Pennsylvania.

In early 2006 we installed a newly rebuilt 140hp engine in the original Monza Corvair and raced at the NECC Mosport Ontario road course. This was the first road course we drove with the new engine and it was an awesome experience to drive this fabled course with our new and improved #112. Since Mosport we have added enough additional runs at the CORSA Buffalo convention, SECC autocrosses, 'Corvairs in The Curves' in South Carolina and the CORSA North Carolina 'Fall Corvair Affair' to have well over 100 runs on our new engine.

After the 2006 fall season came to an end, Scott and I had made the decision to rebody #112 with an excellent 1965 Corsa chassis. We used almost everything off the original Monza except the body and when we finished we basically had a clone of what we now refer to as 'Old Beef'. So when we came to Waterford Hills road course for the
NECC track event, we were bringing 'New Beef' for an inaugural run with the new body, the rebuilt 140hp engine, an added rear sway bar, a brand new 'rolled paint job', new Graphics, vinyl lettering and fresh decals.

#112 ran great and the course was a delight to drive on a near perfect weather day in
the rolling hills of Michigan. Once again NECC and it's members put on a memorable race event for everyone who participated and attended. A BIG Thanks from SeniorBeef aka Chuck Armer and JuniorBeef aka Scott Trunkhill and 'NewBeef'
